In a shocking turn of events, the disappearance of two real estate agents from Navi Mumbai has taken a grim twist as one of them was found dead along the Pen-Khopoli State Highway. The case, which has left both the local community and authorities on edge, continues to unfold as investigations intensify.

The Disappearance

On the night of August 21, Sumit Jain (35) and Aamir Khanzada (40), both residents of Nerul in Navi Mumbai, left their homes for what they described as a business meeting. The two men, who had been business associates for the past three years, were known to regularly venture out for meetings, often returning home late at night. However, on this particular night, they did not return.

By the early hours of August 22, when neither Jain nor Khanzada had come back, their families grew increasingly concerned. Attempts to reach them by phone were futile, as both their mobile phones were switched off. The following morning, Khanzada’s brother, who resides in Pune, rushed to Navi Mumbai to assist in the search. Using the GPS in Khanzada’s car, the family traced its last location to Khalapur.

A Chilling Discovery

The search took a disturbing turn when Khanzada’s car was found abandoned near the Pali Phata exit on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, under the jurisdiction of Khopoli, Raigad police. The car bore ominous signs of foul play, including a bullet hole on the rear side and bloodstains inside the vehicle. This alarming discovery led the family to immediately notify the police, who registered a missing person’s complaint and began a full-scale investigation.

On the afternoon of August 23, the police received information from the police Patil of Gagode village in Pen about a body found in the bushes along the Pen-Khopoli State Highway. The body was identified as that of Sumit Jain, one of the missing real estate agents. The cause of his death has yet to be determined, but the circumstances strongly suggest foul play.

Ongoing Investigation

The case has now expanded into a multi-jurisdictional investigation, with a total of 10 teams, including those from the Navi Mumbai crime branch and local police, working to solve the mystery. One of the key focuses of the investigation is the review of CCTV footage to track the duo’s movements before they reached Khalapur.

As the investigation continues, Aamir Khanzada remains missing, and his whereabouts are unknown. The police are leaving no stone unturned in their search, but as time passes, concerns for his safety grow.

A Community in Fear

The sudden disappearance and suspected murder of the two well-known real estate agents have sent shockwaves through the Nerul community. With one man dead and another still missing, the mystery has left residents fearful and speculating about the possible motives behind the crime. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.

As the search for answers continues, the community is left grappling with the unsettling question: What really happened on that fateful night?
